SUARA NEGERI | JAKARTA — The government has reaffirmed its commitment to continuously reducing poverty and unemployment through policies focused on lower-income communities.
Socioeconomic indicators in various regions show an improving trend in poverty rates, open unemployment, and income inequality.
The latest data shows a poverty rate of 8.25 percent, unemployment at 4.7 percent, and the absorption of 2.71 million new workers through 2025.
The government continues to strengthen social protection programs and utilize the National Socioeconomic Single Data (DTSEN) to ensure more targeted interventions.
Airlangga Hartarto, Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs for the 2024-2029 period, stated that he had discussed this with President Prabowo.
"Last weekend, along with several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet, we attended a limited meeting chaired by President Prabowo Subianto in Hambalang.
In this meeting, the President conveyed various strategic directives that will guide the government in responding to ongoing global dynamics and uncertainties," he said.
The main emphasis, Airlangga continued, is on the importance of ensuring that every policy adopted provides optimal benefits and favors the interests of the Indonesian people, while simultaneously encouraging increased productivity in the national industry.
"Indonesia must also take an active and constructive role in strengthening the global supply chain as part of efforts to maintain national economic resilience and competitiveness," he concluded on Monday (February 16). (Jeane Patikawa)
