SUARA NEGERI | BEKASI — Bekasi residents demand flood solutions from the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi, who has responded to criticism directed at him after disasters struck several areas in West Java.
As is known, floods and landslides hit several areas in January 2026.
It was observed that the past week saw severe weather affecting Bogor and its surrounding areas, resulting in continuous rain.
This also included other areas in West Java, causing several natural disasters.
These disasters resulted in many victims, some even fatalities.
The Governor of West Java also received some criticism during the disaster.
This criticism included his visit to the Cisarua landslide site in West Bandung.
This also included Bekasi residents demanding solutions from him regarding the flooding problem.
KDM responded to all of these issues via his social media account on Sunday (February 1, 2026).
Regarding the Bekasi Floods
KDM also responded to criticism that the governor should address the flooding in Bekasi and then provide solutions.
Dedi Mulyadi stated that he continues to seek solutions to flooding in Bekasi.
"I continue to seek solutions to flooding in Bekasi. First, if I say that the conversion of the rice field area (swamp) into a lake is indeed a mistake, and another mistake is why the permit was granted," said KDM.
"Second, I urge the city and district governments to make changes to spatial planning, including the provincial government," said Dedi Mulyadi.
"Third, I have met with the Minister of Public Works to expedite the construction of Cibeet Lake. This is also a solution, and it will be completed in 2028," he said.
KDM continued, explaining that he has also asked the BBWS (Regional Disaster Management Agency) to strengthen the embankments so they are not easily breached.
"This step is being taken as a solution to various problems. Therefore, I apologize if my leadership has not satisfied all parties and still has many shortcomings," he said.
