SUARA NEGERI | JAKARTA — The government is targeting the distribution of food aid to more than 35 million beneficiary families (KPM) as a form of economic stimulus ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026.
This strategic step was taken to strengthen people's purchasing power and maintain national economic stability during the Eid al-Fitr holiday (1447 Hijri).
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, explained that this assistance aims to strengthen demand within the community.
"The target recipients are 35.04 million beneficiary families (KPM), namely those from deciles 1 to 4," Airlangga said in Jakarta yesterday.
To support these tens of millions of families, the government has prepared an assistance scheme: each family will receive 10 kg of rice and 2 liters of cooking oil. The assistance will be provided regularly for two months.
The government has allocated Rp11.92 trillion for this assistance.
This food aid targets a broad spectrum of the population, including the extremely poor (decile 1), poor (decile 2), near-poor (decile 3), and vulnerable groups (decile 4).
Distribution will begin during Ramadan or February 2026. Airlangga requested that all relevant agencies and local governments collaborate to ensure smooth logistics flow to ensure timely delivery of aid. (Jeane Patikawa)
